To my grandma.

Dear Grandma,

Today you turn 99. Someone should be giving you a medal because that’s a whole lot of living you’ve done. And I think it’s just amazing.

I know you won’t be reading this, heck you probably don’t even know what a blog is, but I felt it only appropriate to give you a big shout out today. So here we go.

Of all my grandparents I’ve always felt the closest to you. Maybe it’s because you taught me Chinese checkers at a young age or that you constantly made me and my Barbies shawls or because you let Kourtney and I watch Sesame Street when when we would visit. Or perhaps it’s because you’ve always been such a strong woman. You’ve had to say goodbye to a husband and two children and yet you have survived and only shown more love to everyone around you.

I admire everything about you from your always awesome style, to the way you used to play the piano. I love how much my dad is like you (you’ve raised him well) and how you’ve always treated my mom like a daughter. I love that you always want to know what’s going on in our lives and that you’re still witty as ever.

I will always be proud to call myself your granddaughter and I hope you have the absolute best day ever.

Happy Birthday Grandma, I love you!

Love,
Katelin
