Hopping on the Harry Potter train.

Well let me change that. I’m not hopping on the Harry Potter train all the way since I’ve been riding it for years (weirdest analogy ever). I’ve seen all of the movies (and LOVED them all) and I’ve even made the trek to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, yet somehow I’ve never ever read the books (part of it I mentioned back in July was the size of each book and the I don’t want an e-reader and yeah, moving on).

But guess what?

Today, I change that.

Thanks to Jenn so graciously giving me her copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone I will officially join the rest of the world and begin reading this series.

Now I have to admit, I’m a bit worried. Only because I have a tendency to get obsessed with things (Twilight, Hunger Games, Wicked just to name a few) and I know plenty of people that have spent hours on end attached to their HP books. I don’t want to be that obsessed. I want to read these books and enjoy them for the great stories they are, but I don’t even know if that’s possible. Plus I’m going on vacation on Wednesday and I don’t want to spend the whole time I’m at the beach wondering about Harry and co. or being glued to a book. Issues, I have them.  On the other hand, I’m also worried because I love the movies and SO MANY PEOPLE have told me how great these books are but what if the hype is TOO MUCH!? What if I don’t fall head over heels in love with this series like EVERY OTHER PERSON I KNOW!? I don’t think I could handle that kind of disappointment really.

So fingers crossed I love it and don’t get too obsessed and fully enjoy my quality time with Harry, Ron and my favorite sassypants Hermoine.

Tell me, have you read the Harry Potter series or are you like me just catching up to 1997?

happy weekend!
