Happy Easter Bunny!

It’s been no secret that I’ve been having some really good days and some pretty rough days. These past few days were a crazy combination of both.

For the first time in a long time we stayed in town for Easter. Usually we go to the desert with Matt’s family and this year we stayed around for my family and friend palooza. Starting Thursday we had friends over from out of town and even friends that live in town. We drank wine and we hung out and it was just so nice.

And then Friday morning, Riley and I were hanging out and watching movies when our door buzzer went off. I nonchalantly buzzed the person in (without asking, whoops!) and a few seconds later there was a knock at the door and: TA DA! My younger brother was standing there. He surprised the whole family and came to town from New York.

So, for the first time since last August and probably the last time for a while, my whole family was together. And this weekend did a whole lot of things, including visiting my 104 year old grandmother.

And when we weren’t visiting family, Riley was searching for eggs. Or not napping. But mainly egg searching. Seriously, the kid had three egg hunts in two days.

And when he wasn’t hunting eggs he was chasing cousins or whining or not sleeping.

And real talk here, on Saturday when I was with my whole big extended family where I finally got to see cousins I hadn’t seen in years (and months) I started crying. But not out of happiness, out of full overwhelmed anxiety. My aunt asked me how I was doing and I literally started crying in her kitchen. It was embarrassing but also a relief.

Saturday I woke up feeling wrong and the whole day suffered. Letting it out and letting my family watch my kid helped. Spending time with my husband and a plethora of other adults, also helped. Also, wine. Wine is good too, ha.

Overall it was a good weekend with so many people I love. And even though Riley was a tiny terror of a toddler, it was still so fun to see him enjoy another holiday surrounded by family that love him.

And how was your weekend? Any egg hunting?

happy tuesday!
