Controlled Chaos.

Chaos. That pretty much sums up our weekend. I mean yes, we’re almost at another weekend and I’m about to talk about last weekend, but I think I’m still recovering from the chaos.

But a good chaos. A chaos that was a house with ten adults and eight children under the age of five. Take a moment to let that soak in.

But oh was it fun.

Matt’s family owns a house in Guernville, California and we rented it for the weekend. We invited a few friends and their families and spent the weekend hanging out, eating well and generally herding a small army of cats (children).

There was a pasta night. There was a lot of bread. There was a lot of wine drinking (obviously). There were so many cute kid moments (can you read me a story? can we play this game? What does this toy do? Why are there rocks on the ground?). There were amazing fires in the monstrous fireplace every night. There was a whole lot of parent talk. There was jumps in the river. There was failed attempts at bocce. There was cookies for breakfast. There was a whole lot of blankets.

There wasn’t a whole lot of down time or quiet for that matter, but it was worth it. And it was so nice to catch up with friends that we don’t get to see that often.

Being an adult is fun sometimes. Being a parent is an adventure. And it’s quite a delight to not go through any of it alone.

And how are you? What’s happening? Please fill me in.

happy thursday!
