Parents’ Night Out.

Parents' Night Out
On Thursday night I went into a bit of a panic attack. Well not a panic attack, that’s an exaggeration. I started to freak out when I realized that Matt and I hadn’t spent any time together outside of our apartment recently. Like I couldn’t even remember the last date we took, and it was making me panicky.

And I immediately texted my mom asking if they could come over Friday or Saturday to watch Riley for a few hours so we could go out.

And, per usual, my parents are awesome and came over Friday night with dinner. We hung out, we put Riley to bed and my parents watched a movie while Matt and I left.

We didn’t know where we were going until we got to the car, but we landed on an Irish bar we’d always wanted to go to.

And it was delightful.

The drinks were tasty, the people watching was fantastic and we just happened to be there in time for the live band. We had time to chat about things that weren’t just about Riley, we enjoyed an older couple that danced to the band the whole time and just had a generally good time being together, staying out past our bedtime.

I realized that in the process of trying to save money and curb our outings that we also curbed our time spent together. Friday night was a good reminder to get out and remember that we’re not just parents, we’re husband and wife and time together is important (and quite fun).

Also, you can hardly go wrong with live Irish music.

happy tuesday!
