Colorado Dreamin.

So apparently a long weekend away takes a long time to write about. Because I’ve attempted to recap this past weekend a few times and each time I just step away from my computer and take a nap instead, ha. But really, long weekends and weddings and friends and family, those are the best. And it’s exactly what I did. Note: This post won’t be short.

Thursday: We got picked up bright an early by a Blacklane Limousine car and made our way to the airport. Getting picked up by a professional instead of wrangling a family member into taking us to the airport was definitely a treat and one I hope to do again in the future. Also, not driving – always a win.

Eventually we made our way to Colorado where we were greeted by my sister-in-law’s sister (it’s about to get all tricky so basically everyone is just family). We relaxed for a bit before picking up the kidlets from school, and that’s when all the fun madness happened. Matt and I pitched in with homework help and dinner help and a piano break it was just a fun evening all around.

Friday: After the kids went to school, Matt, Mary Megan and I all went out to breakfast. And you guys, it was amazing. I love a good breakfast and this place did not disappoint.  Luckily the kidlets had a half day at school so we all went and picked them up, got them ready and we made our way to the Denver Zoo. Fun fact: I love zoos. Most animals and creatures sort of freak me out, but I love visiting zoos, especially when they have great reputations for animal preservation and sanctuaries.

The Denver Zoo was definitely one of the best zoos I’ve ever been to. So many animals got up close and personal and the weather was perfect for animal activity (we saw the polar bear at dinnertime, the monkeys having a great time and the cheetahs pacing all over the place). There was also some great photo ops.

After our afternoon at the zoo it was time to head on home and get ready for dinner. As a treat we all went out to a fun tepan place nearby and you guys, it was delicious. Who knew there were so many tasty places to eat in Colorado??

The rest of the evening was spent hanging out, watching baseball and having a lovely time catching up with everyone.

Saturday: Wedding day! The whole reason Matt and I made the trek to Colorado was to celebrate our friend John’s wedding. And Saturday was the day. We went to breakfast with the family in the morning then spent the afternoon getting ready to wedding. And before we knew it it was time to head out. We got to the beautiful venue and immediately found our friends. It was so great to be reunited with high school friends that we don’t get to see all that often any more (life man, it’s too busy). Somehow I didn’t get any pictures of the bride and groom or even of the venue and the cute little details. I was just too excited to be with friends and at a wedding.

However, this pic is one of my favorites. The high school kids. Well me and the guys at least were the HS kids. And luckily they’ve all ended up with some pretty wonderful ladies.

The wedding was full of dancing, good food and a whole lot of catching up. Our group of friends ruled the dance floor and had a grand time doing it. I truly am lucky to have these guys in my life.

Sunday: Originally we were going to go home this day, but instead we changed our flights so Matt could go to the Broncos game with the girls and I could babysit the kidlets. And you guys, it worked out perfectly. Matt loves football and I love kids. So of course this was the best for both of us. Once the Broncos fans left for the game, I had a great afternoon with the kids that made me even more excited for Baby Bannan. Seriously, we had a bit of Disney karaoke, played some Jenga, spent some time playing house where there were puppies and a fake kitchen feast. The evening capped off with a delicious dinner and watching Harry Potter before books at bedtime. So yeah, sign me up. All the time.

After the kidlets went to bed I had some time to myself to read and watch bad TV and it was the perfect way to wind down the weekend and the evening before the early flight the next day. Needless to say, I can’t wait to go back to Colorado.

And how was your weekend? Any weddings or dance parties? Shenanigans?

 happy wednesday!

*Blacklane provided me with the ride to the airport at no charge, the opinions of it’s awesomeness are all mine*

  • We visited the Denver Zoo when we were there a few years ago. Definitely agree – it’s a good one! :)

No dance parties or wedding this past weekend, but wine tasting!
