A Little Bit About Love Letters.

by katelin on December 12, 2013

A few weeks ago Becky sent me an email asking if I wanted to participate in 12 Days of Letter Writing from the folks at More Love Letters project. I didn’t really know what it was but the name of it was pretty intriguing.

And then I read some more about it and you guys? Spreading love letters to people who need it? Yeah that’s a pretty swell way to spend your time. Especially now, around the holidays which is all about giving and loving and sharing. So of course I said yes and here we are today. I received a bit about someone who needs some love and I’m sharing my letter to them and how you can help too.

Our dear recipient: Matthew

Matthew’s story as told by a close friend: Matthew grew up in foster care, and from a very young age has been taking care of himself and others. Matthew is the type of guy to go above and beyond to help somebody that he cares about. However, he’s the last one to do it for himself or let someone else do it for him…I think when you grow up in certain situations it’s harder to open yourself up to feelings you’ve never felt. I love this man with all my heart and want him to experience what Love is, what it feels like and just the power it can have. He’s been through so much and he’s a hard egg to crack.

And here’s my letter.

Dear Matthew,

You are a rock star. I mean, I know we’ve never met and you have no idea who I am but I can tell these things. And you sir, are a rock star. A gem. A wonderful human being. You always put other people before you think of yourself and sometimes you just need someone to remind you of your genuine awesomeness. You have so many people who love you and whose lives you’ve touched and you just need to know about it.

You are loved. You are truly loved.

Don’t be afraid to let your feelings show. Let it out. You have people around you that want to help. You don’t always have to go second, you can be first sometimes.

With that, I hope you have a truly wonderful holiday season full of love and magic and even more love. Don’t ever forget how much you mean to the people in your life.

A whole lot of love,

And if you want to participate (which I suggest you do!) send your letters here by December 20th:
