Oh hey weekend. Remember when I was still whining about the heat and just whining all around yet still managed to have a good time? Yes, that is lovely sometimes.
Friday: Oh what a classy night. Well classy in both fancy and actual class things in that Matt and I attended part one of his ten year high school reunion. We got there right when another couple did that we actually knew and turned out us four were the first people there. And we were the first there for a while, but it was fun to catch up and chat and drink and try not to melt (seriously, I can’t get over how hot it’s been). The whole night was fun catching up with Matt’s high school guys (he went to an all boy school) and meeting new ones and just, lovely night all around.
Saturday: Despite the 108 degree weather (yes you are reading that correctly) I went to my friend’s son’s soccer game to cheer the little guy (he’s only 5) and his team on. Seriously, kid soccer is just too funny. And quite entertaining.
After the game I trekked home to get all dolled up for Matt’s high school reunion part two. Somehow I didn’t take a single photo of the night but it was a lovely evening catching up with friends and drinking wine and eating tasty food and wandering the halls of Matt’s youth. So you know, a good time for all.
Sunday: Woke up bright and early to make pancakes and mimosas for my sister and a friend so we could all settle in and watch Gone with the Wind for the first time.
One. My apple chocolate chip pancakes were a success. As you know, this meant a lot. Two. Mimosas are simply divine. Three. Watching a long movie is better with friends. Four. Part one of Gone with the Wind is much more entertaining than Part two. Five. Scarlett O’Hara is kind of hard to like. I mean I’m still not 100% sure how I feel about her. And Six. Fiddle Dee Dee.
After our movie watching the girls went home and I relaxed a bit enjoying some quality Katelin time. Eventually Matt came home from a day of football watching so we could go watch more football and have dinner with my sister-in-law’s parents. Twas lovely and just the ending to the weekend we needed. Well minus the part where my eye started swelling up and I’m pretty sure pet dander is my downfall and being allergic to everything is just annoying. Other than that, a good time all around.
And how was your weekend? Any breakfast making or movie watching? Did you move to Alaska because it’s just TOO HOT!?
happy tuesday!

Oh man, I remember the first (and only) time I ever watched Gone with the Wind. I sat with my brother in his room and we didn’t know there was an intermission to the movie (we were watching it late at night) and I nearly cried I was so bored LMAO. He was like “NO DON’T LEAVE ME AT THE INTERMISSION WE MUST SAY WE WATCHED THE WHOLE THING” so we did. I can’t say I remember much of it, but it was a fun experience.
Your breakfast food looks DELICIOUS.
Also holy HEAT batman. How is that even possible! I’m wearing a jacket and a scarf… It’s practically boot season over here!
Aaaaaaah! So glad you made it through GWTW!! I have loved the book and movie so much since I was 12
What I find so amazing is that Scarlett is a horribly unlikeable person, but somehow, you STILL find yourself rooting for her. And every time I read the book or watch the movie, I think THIS time she’ll get her act together in time and everything will be different! She’s just a fascinating character.
Haha, thankfully the temps have cooled down so much I’m sitting in a knitted thick cardigan right now – just to for once feeling superior to you and your awesome weather… remember this when I’m dying from the cold winds and cold feet in two months time. My best from Denmark.
come here! it’s cold and lovely! Well, not cold, but in the 60s and it’s totally divine.
I made breakfast on Saturday morning for us (just scrambled eggs, toast and bacon) and then we wandered around the Italian part of St. Louis for the better part of three hours? Bought some stuff for the wedding, had a coffee, and then decided we needed a chicken wing pizza and beer at a local outdoor cafe because, well, who doesn’t? It was a totally awesome day and the kind that makes me all happy and reminds me why I love STL so much and also why Knight is the best!
Glad you had a great weekend. Confession: I haven’t read Gone With the Wind, much less watched it. I have a little over a year to do both… must.get.on.that.
My brain can’t comprehend 108 degree heat because it’s NONSENSICAL. Boo hiss to heat that hot! Ugh.
