A FAIRly fabulous weekend.

So if summer’s really over I don’t think Los Angeles got the memo, because my goodness THE HEAT. You guys I think I melted away this weekend, it was a bit ridiculous. In any case, I still managed to get out and do things because that’s what weekends are for sometimes, doing things.

Friday: Matt and I had a fun night in with my aunt and uncle at their house. We had drinks outside, enjoyed a nice dinner and capped the night off with some intense games of Wii Bowling (I won both, I’m sort of a champ) and ice cream sundaes. Sometimes, nights in are just the best kind of night.

Saturday: Started the day late, watched some Downton Abbey (seriously, loving this show so much) and eventually made my way to my younger brother’s water polo game. Man, I was such a super fan/proud big sister. My brother scored the first goal of the game (which was awesome) and my cousin played great as well. It was just exciting to finally get to see them both play on varsity and make a difference, huzzah.

That afternoon Matt and I met up with Megan, JR and some of their friends and we all decided to go to the LA County Fair. It was a bagillion degrees but oh was the fair fun. We got to see some cute animals (seriously, I want a piglet), eat some ridiculous food, ride some scary rides and play some good ole games.

It was so nice to do something out of the norm and to basically embrace all of our inner children. Also, it was nice to ride a ride that I may never go on again because holy hell carnival rides are terrifying. But in all, a fabulous day with fabulous people. Also, let’s get funnel cake!

Sunday: Started the morning with a birthday brunch for Matt’s aunt which was fun. I mean it’s hard to go wrong with breakfast with mimosas are involved. After breakfast I pretty much parked in on the couch for the afternoon sleeping because it was just too hot to do anything else. Before I knew it we hit dinnertime and it was time to celebrate my dad’s birthday, tepanaki style.

After dinner was pie and gifts and just lovely, the perfect end to a lovely weekend.

And how was your weekend? Are you surviving this heat? Any crazy adventures or super fried food, ha?

happy monday!

I love fair food!

It’s been downright chilly here, like into the 50s at night, but I don’t mind too much cause I’m able to leave the windows open at night which means no a/c which makes me happy.

This past weekend was a college football game/tailgate and lots of fun on Saturday and then wedding stuff on Sunday.

Glad you had a lovely weekend :)

The FAIR! So jealous! I’m also *kind of* jealous of the heat you’re having. It’s SO COLD HERE! Coming home from the blazing heat of Italy to the somewhat freezing temps in Montreal is nooooo fun. It was like oh yeah, btw summer is over. JUST LIKE THAT.

Super jealous of the funnel cake part. I tried to convince Chad to take me to our hometown county fair, but he refused. Especially since the only reason I wanted to go was for a funnel cake :P LOL

If you love Downton Abbey (it took me so long to realize it wasn’t Downtown when I first started watching it!) please tell me you’ve seen Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice (the most recent ones)… I think you have though because we’ve already discussed Michael Fassbender in it

The fair sounds like so much fun.
And I loved funnel cake when I had one during our visit to LA in 2009. Yummy.
Sadly we don’t have them in Germany.

I love fairs so much! Fair food, fair rides and critters always make it feel like fall to me.
