So it’s Wednesday and it’s been a while since we talked about wine so let’s get to it.
Remember when my wino BFFs sent me six bottles of sauvignon blanc? It was like wino Christmas and I’m still celebrating. Today I’m talking about two more of the bottles that have helped make me a sauv fan, Goldwater and Lafite Reserve Speciale Blanc.
We actually opened up the Goldwater Sauv a few weeks ago and I decided to use my holiday glass for a little “Christmas in July” celebration and oh, it was a good call. It paired perfectly with my elaborate salad (I’ve been on a seriously salad kick lately) with its hint of grapefruit and citrus. It was almost tart but not enough to overpower my dinner or my palate. It also wasn’t too strong in that I could handle two glasses and feel just fine afterwards and actually rather refreshed. The citrus flavors definitely provide a summery feel while sipping this one.
And last night I decided to open up the Lafite and you guys, the French know their stuff. After a long and hot workout it was the perfect wine to wind down my evening with. It was sweet like a riesling without taking over.
As I sat watching the Olympics I sipped this wine and oh was it lovely. Another one that was perfect to cool me down on a sweltering night (seriously LA, cool the eff down please) and make me relax after a busy day. I should have had some popcorn or chocolate to pair with it but really all I wanted was the wine and that’s quite alright. All in all, it was the perfect wine to end my night with and I can’t wait to have another glass tonight!
Basically what I’m saying is that I’m a sauv blanc convert. I may not choose it first but I’ll never turn it down again that’s for sure!
And don’t forget to check out our friends Pasternak Wine Imports on Facebook and Twitter.
Cheers!
happy wednesday!

I think I need to revisit the sauvignon blancs! I haven’t had one in a while and I don’t normally pick them but you are slowly changing my mind… =)
