[Today would usually be Hollywood day but I'm still mad at the Emmy's for snubbing SOA and just, yeah. So instead, this Hollywood day is all about TV, my TV for that matter.]
So. I watch a lot of television. It’s no secret. And thank goodness for DVR, so I can catch up at once or wait or whatever. I have a life and I watch TV, it happens.
With news trickling in of new seasons I’ve been reevaluating the shows I’ve watch. Over the past two years I’ve dropped a few/or they’ve been canceled (Desperate Housewives, Law & Order: SVU, Medium, Greek ) and I’m tempted to drop a few more. Although when I said I’d drop shows I didn’t think I’d be adding any more shows, but alas you know what happened. I added THREE new shows. Because you know, I’m crazy. In any case, this year I’m putting it out there. The shows I’m committed to, the shows that are going either way and have a few episodes to convince me to stay and the shows I’m nixing.
Here we go:
The Keepers:
Sons of Anarchy – Sweet mercy. After a marathon viewing of this show I don’t actually know how I’m going to function waiting week to week to catch a new episode. Also, I’m just obsessed and I hope you don’t get annoyed with my constant OHMYGODSOA chatter.
Homeland – Same thing here. If you recall I watched the ENTIRE season in TWO days. So. Yeah. Apparently I’ll have to figure out how to deal with suspense on a week-by-week basis.
Dexter – Despite the so-so season I’m sticking with Dexter Morgan, especially now that Deb knows! There’s just so much potential for this season I cannot wait.
The Mentalist – Patrick Jane, you win. Well the whole team, it’s such a good show.
Criminal Minds – Reed, Garcia. Yep. I’m not going anywhere from the most disturbing crime show I watch.
The Big Bang Theory – I mean yes I do watch comedies and this is the best one ever. I don’t remember an episode where I wasn’t cracking up. I could never part from the Shamy.
Downton Abbey – So I’m still a season behind, but I’ll be watching this one. The gossip! The scandal! The desire to live in a castle!
Modern Family – I’m a season behind but this show cracks me up and with all the dramas I watch I need some more funny. I also need Cam to be my real life BFF.
Once Upon a Time – Another new addition last year and I’m so glad I did. I’m such a sucker for fairy tales and this show does it so well (despite some cheesiness). Also the finale was excellent and season two can just go anywhere and I cannot wait!
On the edge:
Glee – There were so many times I almost quit last season and I still haven’t even watched the season finale (and I’m okay with that!) so who knows. This season has one episode to bring me back.
Grey’s Anatomy – I was on the edge with Grey’s last year too. I’ve loved it for so long but it’s just a little ridiculous lately and yeah. We’ll see how everything fairs after the oh-so-ridiculous plane crash.
CSI: – Despite the crazy cliffhanger of last season I’m not totally sure how much I still love this show.
CSI:NY – I’m not loving this show as much as I used to but I still keep watching, who knows if I’ll actually drop it.
How I Met Your Mother – I Love this show. I always have. I’ve seen every episode. But. But. I’m so torn. Can I still keep watching this for two more years?!
Adios:
Top Model – I may give this season one episode but without the Jays and Nigel I just can’t carry on.
And yes I know it’s a shame that I’m not watching Breaking Bad or Mad Men or New Girl or Game of Thrones orΒ Parenthood, but a girl can only watch so much. Also, I’ll probably just binge watch all of them one day then say “YOU GUYS WERE SO RIGHT!!”
So tell me. What are you keeping/debating/dropping this season?
happy tuesday!

Downton Abbey season 2 is on Hulu now – watched it this weekend!
Also where did you watch Homeland because I’m dying to watch it and I looked online and the DVDs don’t come out for a while!
I’m just gonna be annoying and recommend as few more shows: Girls (sooo different from any of the other girly shows), Happy Endings, Suits (seriously hot dudes in suits – one would think a certain Barney Stinson came up with this idea),… and per usual I can’t remember half of the shows I watch.
Of all the shows you’ve listed, the only ones I watch are Criminal Minds and Big Bang. I’ve seen HIMYM on DVD, but even though it’s funny, I don’t really know if I care enough to watch it when they release the next season, ya know?
Netflix is where I watch TV, so I’m about 2-5 years behind everyone else in the world, ha.
Game of Thrones DVDs came out today!
Also, you really should watch Parks and Recreation because, well, you know my brother is supervising producer and all.
And it’s good.
you should watch Suits!! best summer show. Girls is also freaking amazing.
I’m feeling the same way about Glee. Not sure if it’s going to make the DVR schedule when we move.
Definitely making the DVR for the fall: Parks & Rec, Up All Night, New Girl, and Scandal
The rest of the good stuff I plan to catch on Netflix… eventually.
Ditto what you’ve said about Glee: I wasn’t feeling it this year and actually started fast forwarding through song breaks because it was just becoming so annoying to me. (This coming from a girl who LOVES musical theater, so that’s a big deal.)
I’ll be watching New Girl, HIMYM (even though TWO MORE YEARS of it kind of drives me crazy), Revenge… can’t really think of anything else right now that I *must* watch in the fall. And if you have HBO and aren’t watching The Newsroom this summer, I suggest checking it out!
Whoa you booted out ANTM? That is serious! And I agree on Glee and Greys. At least when Glee is hot (with music) it’s HOT. But Greys, ugh come on. I never want to be treated in a Seattle hospital, ever.
