Three day weekends are in fact the best thing ever. And this past one just made me love them even more. So three day weekends, let’s be a thing. A more often thing. Because I really do love you.
Friday: A day off, hurrah! I spent my morning running errands and being productive, while my afternoon was spent with Matt at Universal Studios trying out the new Transformers ride (which is totally awesome) and my evening, oh my evening. Our friends Dan and Amanda came over so Amanda and I could have a girly night. We paired some delicious cheeses and salami with wine I had to review and it was lovely. The boys enjoyed our girlyness and we all hung out for a bit before a quick dinner and then Amanda and I jetted off to see Magic Mike.
Two things about that evening. One. We got into a fight in the parking lot. I wish I was kidding about this. But really a woman was hovering in the corner trying to claim an entire section of potential parking spots. I ended circling like a normal person, saw a girl going to her car and flipped on my blinker. The woman claimed it was her spot and tried to back into me. There was some yelling (mainly on her part) and I eventually I just swooped in and took the spot. Then the woman threatened to beat us up and yelled at us like a crazy person, because you know, that’s totally normal. [note: we were totally fine and my car wasn't keyed, which was what I was most afraid of, ha]. Two. Seeing Magic Mike opening weekend was the best decision ever. It was like we were in a strip club without actually being in a strip club. Our theater was packed and it was like 99% women who were all screaming and clapping and cheering every time anyone took a shirt off or there was a shot of man ass. It was ridiculous and awesome all at the same time. And overall the movie was enjoyable, I laughed and watching some half naked dancing Channing for two hours wasn’t half bad.
So yes, a magically random evening all around.
Saturday: Started my morning with a fantastic breakfast with Nicole and Drea where we shared some summer plans and talked about some obsessions and just yes, I adore these ladies. After breakfast I made my way to a double baby shower for two of Matt’s cousins and it was just so lovely to spend some time with his family. It was also nice to spend some time with the moms-to-be and just chat. I sort of loved that there were no games, rather just lunch and dessert and a fun way of opening the presents.
The rest of my Saturday was spent napping, relaxing, cleaning and eventually going to my brother-in-law’s in-law’s for a impromptu carne asada BBQ evening. Nothing too crazy but a random neon fashion show and plenty of good wine, so yeah, my kind of evening.
Sunday: Woke up bright and early to make our way to Carpinteria to spend the day with some friends at their beach house. And oh what a lovely beach house and day it was.
The house had its own entrance to the beach and we spent the day between there and playing in the sand and adoring our friends’ precious little baby girl and making new friends and catching up with old ones. And just yes. The perfect way to spend a Sunday.
We both came home exhausted and happy and a wee bit sunburned and I was just okay with that. This weekend made my heart so happy and I’m just so grateful for my life sometimes.
And how was your weekend? Did you see Magic Mike? Any beach adventures?
