Live blogging the Golden Globes.

by katelin on January 17, 2012

So, like I said yesterday instead of watching the Golden Globes live I went to WICKED. So I can’t complain. However I had to avoid twitter as best I could and as soon as the show was over I went home and turned on my DVRed awards show. And as always, I had some thoughts. So here we go:

Oh Ricky, you make me laugh, you really do. Nice opening, not too harsh, not too awkward this time.

Johnny Depp. I heart you. I really do. But come on. Stop with the pirate British speak whatever it is. You can, I promise.

Chris Plummer you are so cute.

Laura Dern did you go to Oz with me? That dress is so sparkly and fabulous.

So apparently I need to be watching Downton Abbey (not DownTOWN like I thought, just Downton, in case you were curious).

Yay! KATE! YAY! HEART! YAY! Sorry I didn’t see Mildred Pierce but that doesn’t mean I’m any less excited for you, wee! HEART! Drinks later? I’ll buy!

Oh Paula Patton you are so freaking stunning. And the yellow dress, WANT. LIKE NOW. PLEASE GIVE IT TO ME.

Kelsey Grammer you really do have an excellent voice.

So I didn’t really watch any of those TV dramas until three days ago and go figure the only one I watch wins, hurrah Homeland. Nicely done, nicely done good suspenseful sir.

I mean yes The Artist had to win best score, the whole freaking movie is a score. And it’s wonderful! So, have you seen The Artist yet?

So was everyone nominated for best male drama mini series or TV movie British? Seriously the Brits are everywhere! But nicely done Idris, you are quite awesome.

Dear Brad Pitt, thanks for shaving but please get a hair cut. That is all.

Kate Beckinsale you are also stunning and clearly Seth Rogen agrees and it’s hilarious.

Oh Charlize do you ever not look amazing!? Love the sparkly headband.

MICHELLE! DAWSON’S CREEK FOR LIFE! You did it! You won a Golden Globe finally! Weeeee! And your bestie is there to cheer you on, and yay!

I think Piper and SMG wanted to outdo each other on dress poofyness, my goodness.

Haha, love George using Brad’s cane. They’re friendship makes me laugh.

So did TinTin win just so Steven Spielberg would come to the show and accept the award? I mean he doesn’t have enough awards or anything right? In any case, can’t say I really loved any of those nominated animated films.

So did you see Midnight in Paris? The writing is pretty swell and that movie is just cute.

Aw the marrieds. Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy together are so cute and they’re singing and it’s adorable. And her dress is so sparkly and fabulous.

Um. Why is Chris Tucker there? Who did he bribe to get a seat?

Nicely done Jessica Lang, welcome back. Although I hear you need another new gig since supposedly everyone died on your show? Or you died? Or whatever. I doubt you’ll have a problem finding a new spot.

Christian Bale was in a movie from China? What? And how is In the Land of Blood and Honey from the US a foreign film?! I need some explaining there please.

Yes Dustin it does look like you were bribed to be at the Golden Globes since you’ve look bored the entire night.

Claire for the win! I’d say after watching several episodes of Homeland she gets it just for being so crazy and intense and my goodness. And let’s just give her an award for that dress, I LOVE it.

Ah Joey. You look so dapper with grayish hair. And yay, an actual good show (although can’t say I watch it) for you, nicely done.

Dear Bradley, lose to creeper stache. Asap.

Nicely done Octavia Spencer, nicely done. And that sincere shock and happiness and the crying before you even made it to the stage is just precious. Precious. Also, love that lavender dress, divine.

Sidney you are a legend. I would want to give you a standing ovation too.

Helen Mirren you’re magical. And I love that dress.  And love that you’re doing the voiceover for Morgan’s montage since Morgan can’t do it himself, haha.

Yes Morgan Freeman is an excellent actor, a legend as well. But man is he getting really close to be an old man creeper. Nonetheless, nicely done sir, nicely done.

Oh RDJ you are so handsome and so funny, every time.

So Martin Scorsese I maybe would have listened to your speech if you brought Leo up with you or if Leo was in Hugo, make that happen next time okay?

Seriously, Antonio and Salma are just so attractive, it’s almost unfair.

Aw yay Modern Family. Love all the kids there and running up to the stage, too dang cute.  And love the acceptance speech, so awesome.

Eeee Jean won for The Artist! I just clapped. I’m sitting by myself watching this and I just clapped.  And his speech was so wonderful and his face is so expressive and lurve it. Ah! So, have you seen The Artist yet?

Colin Firth you are just so much loveliness. Yes. Yes you are.

Why yes Meryl you did win. I could have picked that out from watching the trailer for Iron Lady. You’re a gem. Clearly you are. Even if you curse on stage and forget your glasses, such a lovely gem.

YAY! AGAIN! THE ARTIST! And the dog is on stage and I melted. No really, go see it now. Tell them I sent you. YAY!

Oh hey Leo. Nice to see you looking at the show so intently. Mmmmmm.

Natalie love the color but that dress is giving you a side bump thing, weirdish.

George, George, George. You winner you. And yeah after seeing The Descendants I’d give it to you too. Also biggest bromance ever with Brad Pitt. And the Michael Fassbender golf joke, my goodness. Apparently Shame’s got a whole lot of nudity and what not. Interesting.

Hey Harrison Ford, are we maybe running late since you didn’t get any sort of quip in?

Wow, didn’t think The Descendants would take it. One of the few nominated movies in that category I saw and it won. Go me.

And there we had another successful and entertaining show. And for a fashion recap I’ll always agree with, check out Jessica’s breakdown.

So is it Oscar time yet?
happy tuesday!

I knew you would have a fun GG recap. Land of Blood and Honey is a US film, but it in a foriegn languag- that’s why it made it into the category- but really I think they would do anything to ensure that Brad & Angie both attend the ceremony- lol. I loved Emma Stone’s Lanvin dress- so romantic and elegant. After seeing Carnage- which was great, I was really routing for Jodie Foster, but I heart Kate and her black/white dress.

I was most pleased that Peter Dinklage won for Game of Thrones- that show is my obsession. Also his shout out was very meaningful and brought light to an important issue.

Your love for celebrity entertainment is adorable. I don’t mean that in a patronizing way…I really love that you do these updates! I don’t get to keep up as much as I’d like, but I did hear that Idris Elba won an award. I LOVE me some Idris Elba. He’s so gorgeous!

I love your recaps, seriously, I just smile and laugh when I read them :) I actually didn’t get a chance to see them so I appreciate your details even more! And The Artist won multiple awards?! I saw that on imdb when I saw all the winners and all I thought was YES people recognize that this movie is amazing. Props to us for seeing it before everyone else, man we’re cultured!

Seriously all of these things. That yellow dress, I mean, just YES! Also, I said the same thing about Chris Tucker and I am now adding Midnight in Paris and The Artist to my must watch list.

OH MAN – Paula Patton in that yellow dress is stunning! I want so much to wear yellow but it just does not work on me. So beautiful.

And please put Leo in my basket. I need him near me always.

Love this live blog! I have to say, I didn’t LOVE Midnight in Paris. I thought it was good but not great. I might need to see it again though.
