Wednesdays are just better when wine is involved, hence I bring you another fabulous Wino Wednesday.
This week’s Wino Wednesday is brought to us by the lovely people at Wente Vineyards:
And here’s a little snippet about Wente Vineyards:
Founded more than 125 years ago, Wente Vineyards is the country’s oldest, continuously operated family-owned winery. Today, the winery maintains its leadership role in California winegrowing under ownership and management by the Fourth and Fifth Generations of the Wente family. Blending traditional and innovative winemaking practices, the winery draws from approximately 3,000 acres of sustainably farmed Estate vineyards to create an outstanding portfolio of fine wines. Located just east of San Francisco in the historic Livermore Valley, Wente Vineyards is recognized as one of California’s premier wine country destinations, featuring wine tasting, fine dining and championship golf.
Wente was awesome enough to send me four bottles of wine to sample. The first two I tried however were not from their vineyard, they were from Murietta’s Well, The Whip and Tamas Estates respectively.
You guys, just. MMMMM. You know how much I love a good white wine and both of these were nothing short of DELICIOUS. So let’s break it down by bottle shall we?
The Tamas Estates white was a Pinot Grigio (my favorite kind of wine!) and it was just so good. I opened it one night last week when I was home by myself and thank goodness it was a twist off because I really just get lazy with bottle opening sometimes. But I opened it up, poured myself a glass after dinner and enjoyed some quality time to myself. And it was lovely. It wasn’t as sweet as most Pinots can be but I liked it a lot. It didn’t leave any weird aftertaste and it went down quite smoothly (which was a little dangerous! haha).
And on the other hand we have The Whip, a white wine blend. I don’t know that I’d ever had a blend before. Or if I did I didn’t know. But this one was different. The mix goes something like this: 31% Sauvignon Blanc, 27% Viognier (not sure I even know what that is, haha), 15% Semillon, 11% Pinot Blanc, 8% Orange Muscat and 8% Muscat Canelli. I originally though because it was mixed with so many whites that were usually sweet that it would be a better dessert wine, however I had it with my dinner and it was a perfect match. It had a very light taste of peach that I loved and was perfectly suited for my pasta dinner (yeah if you couldn’t tell in that picture it’s pasta under all of those peas, haha). Matt, who isn’t usually a fan of sweet wines, even had a glass himself and enjoyed it. So for a blend it was definitely a win.
Overall both wines were quite delicious and I can’t wait to try out my other two bottles from Wente soon!
Feel free to visit Wente Vineyards, Tamas Estates and Murietta’s Well on Facebook. And check out Wente on Twitter as well.
happy wednesday!
*Wente Vineyards sent me wine free of charge and all of the opinions are my own. But really, it’s wine. How could I not write fabulous things about it*
